'Haidar', a coming of age story that defines adult themes through a child's eyes, Haidar is a physical theatre/dance performance, set in a war-torn context and composed around the on-stage creation and destruction of a large metal sculpture. Told in a palindromic framework, the show reverses at a midpoint to explore the same sequence of events through the eyes of Haidar’s female friend, Radiah.

Pendulums mirror the palindrome. Back and forth, back and forth. A suspension in time, space, and mentality. History will always repeat itself, never truly progressing. Our sculpture resembles a boat. Being suspended with a false sense of security. Pushing forward with such strength, only to be taken backwards with the same momentum. Being oppressed within a social and political structural system. Our sculpture symbolizes the transition from boy to man, girl to woman. From home to isolation.
